Spookiz

Minigame

Monsters fall down the mine shaft, three by three. Line up three of a kind and they burst - before the shaft fills up.

In the game, type !spookiz in the chat to open it from any room.

Where to find it

  • Its stand in Mushlight Cave (the cave at the top of the Way to Mushlight Cave).
  • Walk onto the white middle of its stand and stop there: the game opens. Click or tap the stand to see the high scores.
  • Settings > Activities > Play, or type !spookiz in the chat - from any room.
WinMinigame Surprise BoxCursed ghosts
  • Minigame Surprise Boxfor a new personal best (your first score counts) - one box a day at most, across all the minigames
  • Cursed ghostsfor the Gold medal (reach level 8) - once
  • Finish the week in the top 3: 10, 6 or 3 Arcade Tokens, to spend at the Prize Counter (Artie, in the Lobby): a trophy of each minigame for your home, the minigame auras and more.
  • Earn a medal: 5, 10 or 15 gems, once each.
  • Do today’s challenge: 10 gems, once a day.
  • Do a feat: 10 gems, once each.
  • Solve the puzzle of the day: 10 gems, once a day.
  • Monsters fall down the shaft in columns of three.
  • On a computer: the left and right arrows slide the column. The up arrow swaps its monsters: each one goes up a place, and the top one comes back at the bottom. X swaps them the other way.
  • Hold the down arrow to make the column fall faster. Press Space to drop it all the way at once.
  • On a phone: use the four buttons, or your finger on the game - slide it and the column follows, tap to swap its monsters, slide down fast to drop it.
  • The light squares show where the column will land.
  • Three or more of the same monster in a line burst. A line can go across, down, or on a slant.
  • When monsters burst, the ones above fall down. If that makes a new line, it bursts too: that is a row of bursts, and each one is worth more.
  • The sign on the right shows the next column, and the one after it. The sign on the left shows your score, your level, and how many bursts are left to the next level.
  • Not the column you need? Press C (or tap Hold) to keep it for later. The one you kept before comes back instead. Once for each column.
  • Every 10 bursts you go up a level, and the columns fall faster. The shaft is not emptied: tidy up as you go!
  • From level 2 each level has a bonus goal, shown under the left sign - like "3 bursts in a row" or "a line of 4". Do it for 500 points.
  • From level 3 a special monster comes now and then. A ring marks it: see "Special monsters" below.
  • Every 5th level is Munidark’s: grey stone monsters fall too. They match nothing. A burst next to one cracks it; a second burst ends it.
  • When the monsters get near the top, a red line shows, they shake and you hear a beat. The first time one is left above the shaft, you get a second chance: the top rows go. The next time, the game is over.
  • Need a break? Press the pause button at the top left of the window, or the P key. The pause hides the shaft. The game also pauses by itself if you switch to another window.

Scoring

  • 200 points for a line of three, and 100 more for each extra monster in it.
  • Two lines at once? 200 more for each line.
  • 100 more for each burst before it in a row of bursts. This is where the big scores are.
  • A bomb or an eater gives 100 points for each monster it takes (200 at least). A stone that breaks gives 100.
  • Clear a level: 100 points times its number. Level 5 gives 500!
  • 500 points for the level’s bonus goal.
  • Empty the whole shaft with a burst: "All clear!" and 1,000 points, once a level.

Two players, the same game at the same time. What you clear makes trouble for the other player. No XP, gems or high scores: just the win - and a wager, if you both agree to one.

  • To start: press Duel a player on the game’s title and wait for the next player who does the same. Or open a player’s menu, press Play, and pick this game’s Duel. They get a card to accept or decline.
  • Both of you get exactly the same monsters, and a 3 second countdown.
  • A line of 4 bursts and sends 1 stone to the other shaft; a line of 5 or more sends 2. Each burst after the first in a row sends 2 more, a bomb or an eater 1. Empty your shaft: 6!
  • Stones land in the other player’s shaft; they match nothing.
  • The monsters fall as fast as two levels further on, and a little faster every minute.
  • Anything on its way to you is cancelled first by what you send back ("Blocked!"). The rest comes in after a short warning.
  • If your shaft fills to the top you lose (if both do, the first one loses).
  • After 5 minutes the higher score wins (the same score is a draw).
  • Leave, close the window or stay away for 15 seconds, and you lose. A duel never pauses.
  • The other player’s shaft is drawn small beside yours, with their score. Press Duel again for a rematch.
  • A wager can ride on a challenge from a player’s menu (not on the title’s queue). The winner takes it. Your solo scores, medals and week board are not touched.
  • Press the gold trophy at the top left of the game’s window. It shows two boards: This week and All time.
  • This week: your best score since Monday. The board starts empty every Monday, so everyone has a new chance.
  • When the week ends, the top 3 win Arcade Tokens: 10 for 1st, 6 for 2nd, 3 for 3rd.
  • Spend them at the Prize Counter: press Prize Counter under the boards, or talk to Artie in the Lobby. It has the Minigame Surprise Box, a trophy for every minigame to put in your home, and every minigame aura.

Get far enough in one game and you earn a medal, with gems. Each medal gives its gems once.

  • Bronze5 gemsReach level 3.
  • Silver10 gemsReach level 5.
  • Gold15 gemsReach level 8. Gold also gives you the Cursed ghosts.

Every day there is one small goal. Do it and you get 10 gems. Tomorrow there is a new one. It is one of these:

  • Reach level 3 in one game.
  • Score 8,000 points in one game.
  • Finish 3 games.
  • Burst 200 monsters in one day.
  • Make 5 rows of bursts in one day (two bursts or more in a row).
  • Clear 2 levels (level 3 or higher) in one day with a tidy shaft: no monster above the middle.

From level 3, about one column in 12 carries one. Swap the column to put it where you want it.

  • The bombred ringA black soot ball. When its column lands, it bursts with the eight monsters round it.
  • The eaterpurple ringA red spider. When its column lands, every monster of the kind right under it bursts - all over the shaft. The little arrow points at what it will eat.
  • The jokerrainbow ringA stitched ball. It counts as any monster in a line - even in two lines at once.
  • The stoneMunidarkOnly on Munidark’s levels (5, 10, 15...). It matches nothing. Burst something next to it twice to get rid of it. A bomb cracks it too.
  • On the game’s title, press Puzzle of the day. Everyone on the island gets the same shaft that day.
  • Some monsters are already there. You get 5 columns, in a set order. Empty the shaft!
  • The columns fall slowly, so you have time to think. You can not keep a column here.
  • Tip: look for a row with two monsters of a kind and one that is different. A column often has to land on the different one.
  • Solve it and you get 10 gems, once a day. You can try as often as you like.
  • The hamster in the wheel wears your best medal’s colour on its helmet: bronze, silver or gold. It cheers when you make a row of bursts.

Four things to pull off. Each one gives 10 gems, once. The trophy at the top left of the game’s window shows which you have.

  • Chain reaction10 gemsMake 4 bursts in a row.
  • Long line10 gemsBurst 5 monsters in one line.
  • Tidy shaft10 gemsClear level 3 or higher without the monsters passing the middle of the shaft.
  • Monster hunter10 gemsBurst 1,000 monsters in all, over as many games as you need.
  • The levels never end: each one is a little harder.
  • Your avatar waits in the room while you play; the others see a game controller over you.
  • Every game is checked by the island's server: a score that doesn't add up isn't counted.
