Rare Surprise Boxfor the biggest catch of the week
- The Codfather’s starter job: catch 20 fish and get 50 credits and 200 XP. Once.
- Every catch: 25 XP, for your first 20 catches of a day (500 XP a day at most).
- Sell your fish to The Codfather: junk 0, common 1, uncommon 2, rare 4, epic 8 gems each. Rare and epic fish don’t bite often.
- The Codfather’s three orders a day: 5 gems each, and Angler XP. They count in your 250 gems a day.
- Selling fish gives up to 40 gems a day - more with a bigger Keep Net (55, 70, 80, then 90). Over that, nothing is sold: your fish stay in your Keep Net. These come on top of your 250 gems a day; his orders’ gems count in it.
Press The Codfather to claim a rod or a prize once you have earned it. A rod you own fishes better once you reach its level: quicker bites, more luck and bigger fish.

How to play
- Talk to The Codfather and join his crew. It is free.
- Press a glowing spot at the water’s edge. You walk there and cast your line.
- Wait for the bite. It takes between 6 and 16 seconds.
- When "!" pops up, press REEL quickly. Too soon or too late and the fish gets away.
- Hooked! Now HOLD REEL while the fish pulls. Bigger fish pull for longer. Let go too soon and it slips off the hook.
- Even held all the way, a fish can fight its way off the hook - more often while your Angler level is low. Then you get nothing.
- Your catch goes in your Keep Net. Trade it to The Codfather for gems - put as many as you like of each fish on his table - or hand it in for his orders.
Scoring
- Every catch gives Angler XP. Rarer fish give more: junk 4, common 10, uncommon 18, rare 80, epic 180 - and Old Goldie 600.
- Every catch has a weight. The bigger the fish, the better for the weekly board.
- There are two leaderboards. This week: your biggest single catch, by weight. All time: your Angler XP.
Where to fish
Porter’s Port has four fishing grounds. Each opens at an Angler level. The further out, the better the odds of a rare fish.
- The shoreLevel 1The pier and the beach. Lots of clownfish, prawns and crabs to start with.
- The rocksLevel 10The rocks by the water. Surgeonfish, goldfish and seahorses.
- By the boatsLevel 20The end of the pier, by the boats. Salmon, tuna, catfish and koi carp.
- The lighthouseLevel 35The foot of the lighthouse. The best odds of all. The Dangerous shark and the electric jellyfish only bite here.
Your Angler level
Fishing has a level of its own: your Angler level. It has nothing to do with your level on the island.
- Levels 1 to 50Angler XPEvery catch gives Angler XP. Each level takes a bit longer than the last. New grounds, new fish and new rods open as you go up.
- Master AnglerLevel 50The top. It takes about two months at an hour a day. The Golden Carp grip rod waits for you there.
- The Fresh TideDouble XPYour first 200 catches of each day earn double Angler XP. After that you still earn Angler XP, just not double.
- Evening fish18:00-23:59Some kinds only bite in the evening, from 18:00 to 23:59 UK time.
Mastery
Catch the same kind again and again to master it: Bronze, then Silver, then Gold.
- Bronze, Silver, GoldEach kind has its own counts. Common fish need the most - 25, 100 and 250. Rare and epic fish need far fewer.
- Mount a fishAn itemAt Silver, and again at Gold, The Codfather mounts that kind for you: you get its item. It uses a few of that fish from your Keep Net.
- Gold prizes10, 20, every kindGold on 10 kinds, on 20 kinds and on every kind each gives a golden prize.
The Codfather’s jobs
- The starter jobOnceCatch 20 fish, then go back to The Codfather: 50 credits and 200 XP.
- Daily orders3 a dayBring him some of one kind, catch 40 fish, land one over a weight, or fish up 5 bits of junk. Each one gives 5 gems and Angler XP.
- All three done5 Lucky castsFinish all three orders of the day and you get 5 casts of Lucky bait.
Bait and your Keep Net
The Codfather sells bait and bigger Keep Nets for gems. Buy up to 10 pots of bait at once. Bait helps you catch more and rarer fish for your Fish Log and Angler level - it doesn’t raise the day’s gems. A bigger net lets The Codfather pay you more gems a day.
- Lucky bait60 gems20 casts. Rare and epic fish bite more often.
- Quick bait40 gems20 casts. The fish bite sooner.
- Shellfish lure40 gems20 casts. Prawns, scallops and beached crabs bite three times as often as the others of their kind - a common one is still a common one, so the rare fish don’t bite more.
- Deep lure60 gems20 casts. Salmon, tuna and the albino and dangerous sharks bite twice as often as the others of their kind.
- One lure at a timeYou chooseYou can have Lucky bait, Quick bait and one lure on at once. Pick which lure is on, or none. A lure never raises the day’s gems.
- Keep Net30 fishWhere your catches go. When it is full, a catch still counts, but the fish swims off.
- Bigger nets75 / 300 / 500 / 1,000 gemsFrom Angler level 5: upgrade it to hold 50, then 80, then 120, then 200 fish. Each one also raises the gems The Codfather pays you a day: 55, then 70, then 80, then 90.
Fishing together
Fish at the same spot as your friends and you all earn more Angler XP.
- 2 anglers+10%Two of you at the same spot: 10% more Angler XP for each.
- 3 anglers+20%Three at the same spot: 20% more. The catch card says "+20% together".
- 4 or more+30%Four or more at the same spot: 30% more - the most there is.
- Only Angler XPFishing together adds to your Angler XP only. It doesn’t change the game’s XP or the gems.
Your pet helps
Take a pet out while you fish and it lends a paw.
- A fish from your pet4% a catchEach time you land a common fish or better, there is a 4 in 100 chance your pet fetches one more common fish of that ground for your Keep Net. The room sees it: "Rex fetched a Fresh fish!"
- Full netIf your Keep Net is full, the fish your pet fetched swims off.
- Only for the net10 a dayYour pet can fetch 10 fish a day. They are just fish for the net: no Angler XP, no mastery, no game XP, and they aren’t in your Fish Log.
Fish Frenzy
Every 45 to 75 minutes the port goes wild for 3 minutes.
- Quicker bites3 minutesThe fish bite much sooner.
- Better fish3 minutesUncommon, rare and epic fish bite more often.
- Old GoldieLevel 45+The port’s legend. A Fish Frenzy is the only time it can bite, and only from Angler level 45. Catch it and the whole island hears about it.

Good to know
- Fish as long as you like. Angler XP has no daily limit.
- The game’s XP (your first 20 catches) and the gems (50 a day) do have a daily limit.
- Stay at your spot while you fish. Spots are shared: fish side by side with your friends - together you earn more Angler XP (up to +30%).
- Every fishing item - the fish, the junk, the rods and the prizes - is untradeable. You can see them all in the Fishing Collection.
- The island’s server checks every catch. A reel quicker than a hand can press is a miss.
- Now and then a "still there?" check pops up. Answer it to keep fishing.
- A week runs from Monday to Sunday. The weekly prize arrives by itself when the week ends: you don’t have to be in the game.
