Cooking

Island activity

Cook the fish you caught over a campfire or at home, then feed the dishes to your pet.

Where to find it

  • Kopakabana’s campfire on the beach - lit from 3 pm to 7 am (UK time).
  • The Hallowed Hill’s campfire on its left lookout - lit all day.
  • At home: stand by a fireplace, a stove, a cooker, a barbecue or a campfire.
  • The fish come from your Keep Net - catch them at Porter’s Port (Fishing).
WinMaster Chef Golden HelmetRare Surprise Box
  • Every dish: 20 XP, for your first 15 of a day (300 XP a day at most).
  • Cooking has its own level, 1 to 50: each dish gives Cooking XP. A burnt one gives a little. Cooking XP has no daily limit.
  • Dishes are items you keep and can trade: Grilled fish, Grilled prawns, Golden fried fish, Smoked salmon, Seared shark, the Seafood platter and the Coal-roasted salmon.

The Rare Surprise Box arrives by itself when the week ends: you don’t have to be in the game.

  1. Catch some fish at Porter’s Port. They wait in your Keep Net.
  2. Sit round a lit campfire, or stand by something that cooks in a home.
  3. Press Cook (beside the room’s name) and pick a recipe. Most take one fish; a few take two things, and you need both.
  4. Stay still! It cooks for 6 to 14 seconds - a bar over your head fills up. Step away and nothing is used.
  5. When it is done you get the dish - or, now and then, it burns. The better your Cooking level, the less it burns.
  6. Feed a dish to your pet: press your pet, then Feed. Or eat it yourself: press the dish, then Eat.

Scoring

  • Every dish gives Cooking XP. The harder the recipe, the more.
  • There are two leaderboards. This week: the most dishes you cooked (a burnt one doesn’t count). All time: your Cooking XP, with your Cooking level.
  • The top cook of the week is the Chef of the week.

Each recipe opens at a Cooking level. Most take one fish; the Seafood platter and the Coal-roasted salmon take two things, and both are used up at the end. Step away early and nothing is lost.

Some recipes only come at a special time of year. While it is on, a seasonal recipe has its own line in your Cook Book. When it is off, it isn’t there.

  • The daily specialDouble XPEach day one recipe is the special - the same one for everybody, a new one at midnight UK time. Cook it for double Cooking XP. The Cook tab shows it. The game’s XP stays the same.
  • A shared meal25%Cook a dish at a campfire and everybody else sitting at that fire gets a quarter of its Cooking XP, with a toast: "Sam shared their Grilled fish (+4 Cooking XP)". At home, the players standing near your cooking piece share it. A burnt dish shares nothing. You can get 10 shares a day.
  • Pet XPEvery dish gives your pet some pet XP - the better the dish, the more.
  • Its favourite dishDouble pet XPEvery kind of pet has a favourite of the first five dishes. Feed it that one for double pet XP and extra hearts. The Feed tab puts a heart on it.
  • Well fed10 to 30 minutesA fed pet finds things twice as fast for a while. Its daily finds and the day’s gems stay the same.
  • Full up5 a dayYour pets can eat 5 dishes a day in all.
  • Eat a dish10 a dayPress a dish you own (not one in a trade), then Eat. It is used up and you glow with a "well fed" cloud of steam and hearts for a minute, which everyone in the room can see. That is all: no XP, no gems and no boost.
  • Burnt, not wasted1 Quick castA burnt fish gives you 1 cast of Quick bait for Fishing - up to 20 a day. The burnt card tells you.

Every dish you cook that doesn’t burn counts for the week.

  • The top cookRare Surprise BoxA week runs from Monday to Sunday. The player who cooked the most dishes wins a Rare Surprise Box when it ends.
  • Two boardsThis week shows the dishes cooked. All time shows Cooking XP and each player’s Cooking level. Both are on this page.
  • Cooking gives no gems, and no shop buys dishes - only other players, in a trade. A burnt fish gives Quick bait for Fishing, not gems.
  • One dish at a time, with a short rest between two.
  • Eating a dish, a pet’s meal and a shared meal each have their own daily limit, so nothing can be piled up.
  • The island’s server decides how long each dish takes and whether it burns.
